About Us

Program Source International (PSI) is a video production, marketing, and distribution company founded by Al Eicher in the early 1980s. Al has more than 45 years experience in all aspects of television and film development. Son Dave, joined PSI in 1995, bringing extensive television production, video distribution, sales, and marketing experience.

To preserve early Michigan town histories, PSI developed the Visual History Preservation series in 1994. The town of Pigeon was the first preservation project and fundraiser for the Chamber of Commerce and Historical Society...Over the years, 15 Michigan town’s visual histories have been produced for local historical societies, which generates an ongoing source of income for the society. Over the years, 25,000 historical video and DVD’s.have been sold.

Every year, PSI produces one or two “labor of love” projects with no funding or sponsoring organization. The first program, 1996’s “Ora Labora...Pray & Work” is the story of a 1860s German-Methodist Commune located in the woods near the shore of Saginaw Bay. Using commune diaries, letters, artwork, photographs, and present-day footage, the story of the settlers is told. The “Indian History of the Thumb Region” and “Michigan’s Lumbering Days & Camp Life” relates the stories of early Michigan history. “Mackinac Island...A 600 Year History”, uses period photographs, glass plate negatives, artwork, present-day footage, plus reenactments shot on the Island and the Straits area. “The Orphan Train in Michigan” is the newest video history relating to the life and times of 12,500 orphans riding the rails to find a home in Michigan during the period of 1854 to 1927.

Preserving Michigan’s History is our goal. In the 13 years of producing documentaries, PSI has visited many towns where history is being preserved through the work of historical societies, museums, libraries, and individuals who have a love and appreciation for preserving the past. We create an in-depth video history also using senior citizen interviews plus church and school documents.

There are many towns in Michigan we’d like to document. Our hometown videos stimulate new interest in local history and help build membership for the society. We hope you will enjoy viewing our Michigan town histories and other preservation videos. These links may be of interest: Our corporate website is www.program-source.com , and in March of 2006 we launched www.michiganhistorylectures.com , to promote Lecturers who specialize in topics about the State of Michigan. You can reach us by phone at 248-333-2010.
